BEVERAGE MANUFACTURING Fluid Processing Water Purification Waste Water Treatment/Recovery The unit process of crossflow R.O., U.F. and M.F. are providing substantial cost efficiencies and product improvements for the beverage industry, replacing troublesome diatomaceous earth filters, enhancing product quality and yields, and dewatering without heat. The applications listed below indicate only a few of the many possibilities for production scale membrane processes FLUID PROCESSING Juices - concentrate orange, tomato, apple and other juices, substantially reducing dewatering costs versus evaporation. Beer - Produce "light Beer", "low alcohol" beer, recover brewing sludge. Wine - replace fining and traditional filtration techniques with U.F. for high quality product and higher yields; concentrate grape juice to improve taste; remove colour and off-taste materials, reduce cold stabilization time. Coffee - concentrate prior to spray drying; remove off-taste volatiles. Apple Juice - enhance product recovery by concentrating second and third pressings; concentrate to reduce shipping costs; pectin removal and clarification. Climate control systems - pretreatment or post-treatment. Concentrate dilute oils for reuse or fuel-cutting oils, dielube oils or mold rinses. WATER PURIFICATION Low sodium water for drink bottling. Bottled water - high purity in high volumes at low cost/gallon. Beverage/Juice make-up water WASTE WATER TREATMENT/RECOVERY BOD/COD reduction - concentrate up to 99% of BOD/COD contributing solutes. Sugar and/or product reclaimation. |
